Homemade Butterscotch Vodka

Homemade Butterscotch Vodka

This is something I always make for my guests when I have dinner party or BBQ. I am not for one moment suggesting that you should drink it irresponsibly, I am saying that it makes a nice change from your usual after dinner drinks. Plus it is delicious, even Marisa who does not like anything butterscotch or caramel loves this drink.

It is very easy to make and you can use any sweets you like. I have used skittles, Starburst and lemon sherbets which is also very nice. I would use cheap vodka to make it. You are going to add so much sweets to it that I see no point in using expensive vodka to do them. But it is up to you.

You will need:

1, 75cl bottle of vodka (and drink a quarter of it) not all in one go and please do share it.
3, bags of Werther’s original (have a few yourself) – other sweet are available but this is what I used.

To make your vodka.

Crush the sweets into small pieces. The smaller the better as you will need it to fit into the bottle and it will melt better. I normally use a blender to blend a few sweet at a time.

Now pour all the crushed sweets into the vodka (I use a funnel to do this) Closed it tight and wrap the top of the bottle tightly with cling film. Put it into an empty dish washer on glass cycle (no dishwasher tap).

Once done give it a shake every so often while it is still warm until all the sweets has malted. Once cool put in to the freezer and it’s ready. You can also transfer it into nice pretty bottle before you freeze it.
