This Easy Pork and Prawns Dim Sum might just be one of the easiest recipes I have ever made. It is perfect for when you want to impressed your friends by making homemade Dim-sum.

Not that pork and prawns dim sum are that difficult to make (say someone who has never made it!)

This recipe is even easier than it sound. All I did was took some Pork and Leek sausages out from its skins add some chopped up prawns, oyster sauce and sesame oil to taste and we are done. Well, not quite. You do need to give it a good mixed put it in a wonton pastry and steam them. Now you are done.

A word of warning: the wrapping of the wonton is not easy, well not for me it was not. take your time with it, slowly shape the dim sum. It will happen.

You can get the Wonton wrapper in most oriental supermarket, they do come in a bigger packet more than what you will need. What I do with mine is I let it defrost and  rewrap it into packs of 10 and freeze it again. Then I just take out what I need. You could multiply this recipe and freeze what you don’t eat. You will have to steam it first and let it cool before you freeze it. Freeze in a baking tray first before you put them in a bag together so that they don’t stick. don’t forget to lightly oil the tray before.

This is also a great dish to introduce kids to Dim Sum. Emj loves this dish, she also enjoys making them. So do give it a go with your kids. You can use a different sausage if they do not like leek.

Enjoy,

Instructions
  1. Put all the ingredients together in a bowl and give it a really good mix. Your hands are best for this job.
  2. make the wonton - take one wonton wrapper and place 1tbs of the filling in the centre. Then, gather up the sides of the wrapper and mold it around the filling into a ball-like shape, leaving the centre exposed. Ensure you pinch the wrapper around the filling firmly. They are now ready to steam.
  3. Oil the bottom of a steamer, I use a metal one. Arrange the dim sum in the steamer ( I would lightly oil the bottom of the din sum too). Cover with a lid and place it over a pan of boiling water, making sure the water does not touch the base of the steamer. Steam the dumplings for 10-12 minutes, or until cooked. I served my with sweet soy sauce.
