  • 125g butter, plus a bit extra for greasing
  • 125g soft brown sugar
  • 2tsp golden syrup
  • 1 bicarbonate of soda
  • 125g porridge oats
  • 125g self- raising flour
  • 1tsp boiling water
  1. Preheat the oven to 160c. Then get your little chef ready to bake. Put the butter, sugar, syrup, bicarbonate of soda and water into a large saucepan and melt on a medium heat. Once malted remove from the heat and add in the oats and flour and stir to combine well.
  2. Place TBSP-sized ball on to a lined baking tray, leaving space between them as they will spread out. I normally get about 18-20 out of each batch, depending if it is me or Emj that spoon them out.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-13 minutes or until it has just turn Browns. Cool the cookies on a wire rack.
