Spanish Tortilla recipe is another great recipe to cook with kids. It is very simple to make. As it cooks slowly on a lower heat which makes it easier for kids to cook. You can use a Mandoline like this one to slice the potatoes and onion, it make it easier for some children to slice. I have also use garlic powder and paprika in the recipe because some children can find the flavours of crushed fresh garlic to strong. Garlic powder are a good way to familiar children with the smell and flavour of garlic before moving on to fresh.

We make this Spanish Tortilla for lunch at the weekend all the time, as there is always potatoes, onion and eggs in the kitchen.

Try cooking the recipe with your children by using this easy Spanish tortilla

Instructions
  1. Heat 1 tbsp Olive oil in a deep pan, large enough to cook all the onion and potatoes. Add the sliced onion and cook on low till they are soft but not brown.
  2. Add in the potatoes and seasons well with salt, pepper, garlic powder and paprika. Cover and continue to cook on low till the potatoes are cooked, stirring occasionally to ensure even cooking.
  3. Once the potatoes are cooked, pour the beaten eggs over the potatoes. continue cooking the eggs gently with the lid on for about 15 minutes. The bottom side of the omelette should be golden brown and the top is set.
  4. Now the fun part!! turning the omelette to cook the other side. to do this place a plate that is larger than the pan on top of the pan and flip the omelette on to it. Then slide the omelette back into the pan and cook the other side of the omelette till golden brown. Serve with salad.
